The art of wood and deep blues
A native of Annecy and a graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Dijon, Gilles Giacomotti began his artistic career in New York, exploring a singular approach: he created works on parquet flooring, exploiting the natural nuances of wood like a living canvas.
Returning to France in 2006, he set up his workshop on the heights of Annecy-le-Vieux and developed a unique style inspired by his attachment to the Lake Annecy and its mountains. His series "Les Bleus du Lac® "sublimates these landscapes through deep, vibrant hues, capturing the serenity as well as the tumult of the elements.
Its technique is based on the use of water-based shadeswhich he applies directly to the wood to reveal its veins and knots. This dialogue between raw material and color gives rise to textured works, in which the vibrations of the lake and the mists of the peaks are revealed in cameos of intense blue. Each painting seems to be in motion, oscillating between nostalgia and contemplation, offering a poetic and immersive vision of alpine nature.
